Continuing Medical Education (CME)

State of Oklahoma CME

The State of Oklahoma Requires 20 hours of Category I CME to be earned and logged each year between January 1st and December 31st.  At least one of the twenty hours of Category I CME shall be earned during the same time period concerning the topic of substance abuse.

CME hours must be logged on the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants (OAPA) website by January 31st.  The OAPA will provide a report to the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision (OSBMLS) of PAs who have completed the CME requirements.

Current Fellow and Chapter OAPA members who attend the annual OAPA Fall CME Conference will have their CME automatically logged on the OAPA website and reported to the OSBMLS.  The one hour CME on substance abuse is provided during the conference.  PAs who register for the Fall CME and attend less than the approved CME hours must go online to the OAPA website and complete the logging form with the number of hours attended.

Physician Assistants who do not attend the OAPA Fall CME Conference must go online to the OAPA website and complete the CME logging form.

Physician Assistants who need the Category I CME credit on the topic of substance abuse can obtain the credit by purchasing and listening to the recorded lecture presented at the OAPA Fall CME Conference.  The lecture will be available 7-10 days after the conference and can be purchased by signing into your OAPA account and clicking on "My Store" tab.

OAPA Fellow and Chapter Members may log their CME hours free of charge since this is a benefit included in their annual membership dues.  Non-members must prepay $135.00 for the logging and reporting of CME hours to the OSBMLS.

Oklahoma does not require logging of Category II hours.

All PAs must self-log their hours with the NCCPA for maintenance of certification at www.NCCPA.net.

How do I know it's Category I?

Category I CME provides a certificate of completion that contains a statement indicating who is authorizing approval for Category I and the number of hours approved.  For a formal definition of Category I, consult the AAPA at www.aapa.org or the NCCPA at www.nccpa.net.
