Welcome to the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants website. Our goal is to provide you with information to help you in your daily practice and professional lives. We will keep you up to date on the OAPA and AAPA news and information, as well as state and national news that pertain to our practice and/or profession.
The past year has been a very exciting year for Oklahoma PAs. On April 21, 2015 Governor Fallin signed SB 753, the modernization of the PA Practice Act, into law. However, before the Act can be implemented and become law, the rules must be written at the Oklahoma Medical Board. The legislative committee is currently working on writing these rules, and the OAPA expects implementation in early 2016.
As President, my goal is to increase transparency between the board and the OAPA members so the members feel like it is their academy, and that the board is working for them to fulfill the mission of the academy. Towards this end, the OAPA will be updating its constitution, bylaws, and policies and procedures. Furthermore, the board will be attending a three-year strategic planning retreat so it can review the current mission and the direction of the OAPA going forward. Also, the OAPA plans to develop its own SA and PI CME to offer its members and other PAs throughout the country.
It is an honor to serve as OAPA President and to represent the PAs in the State of Oklahoma. The OAPA is your academy, and our goals cannot be reached with just a few people. It is my hope that together we can increase involvement across the state and encourage newer members to serve on committees and the board in order to ensure the future success of this great organization and profession. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact us at the OAPA office.
