Dr. Alessandra Landmann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery. She graduated with her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma and where she also completed her general surgery and pediatric surgery training. She completed a pediatric surgical critical care fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is currently board-certified in general surgery, pediatric surgery and surgical critical care.
Dr. Landmann currently serves as the pediatric burn director and associate pediatric trauma medical director. She has a passion for caring for injured and sick children and infants. She developed a pediatric track surgical critical care fellowship to teach these skills to the surgeons-in-training, where she serves as the program director for the critical care fellowship and assistant program director for the pediatric surgery fellowship.
When not working, Dr. Landmann enjoys spending time with her family and hiking the national parks!
Pediatric Surgical Emergencies
Objectives:
- Recognize common pediatric surgical emergencies by identifying key signs and symptoms to facilitate timely diagnosis and intervention.
- Discuss initial management and stabilization techniques for pediatric patients presenting with surgical emergencies, including airway, breathing, and circulation priorities.
- Understand referral and collaboration protocols to ensure effective communication with pediatric surgeons and emergency teams for optimal patient outcomes.
