Ira Bowen, DO

Dr. Bowen attended Occidental College in Los Angeles, California where he
obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then worked for several years at the
Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles as a research associate publishing many
papers and textbook chapters before ultimately attending medical school at the
West Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency
in Neurosurgery at Riverside University Health System in Southern California.
Most recently, Dr. Bowen became the first ever pediatric neurosurgery fellow
at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital and The University of Oklahoma College of
Medicine Department of Neurosurgery. He has traveled to Liberia, Africa many
times with the KorleBu Neuroscience foundation to help in the development and
training of Neurosurgical personnel in Liberia as well as performing surgeries.

  • Identify mild traumatic brain injuries.
  • Describe acute treatment of concussion.
  • Examine long term management and return to play guidelines.
